Montirius Vacqueyras Garrigues 2020
Domaine Montirius, a family-run estate in Sarrians led by Christine and Eric Saurel and their daughters Justine and Manon. The Garrigues Vacqueyras is from the Vacqueyras AOC in the Southern Rhône Valley, France. This cuvée is a blend of 70% Grenache and 30% Syrah, sourced from 70-year-old vines across 13 hectares on garrigue (herbal scrubland) soils with blue marl clay subsoils, contributing to its distinctive Provençal character. Certified biodynamic (Biodyvin) since 1996, the first in Vacqueyras and Gigondas.
Nicholas Greinacher of Antonio Galloni's Vinous rated this wine 91 points. “The elegant 2020 Vacqueyras Garrigues sports a lovely cherry perfume with delicate licorice, dried herbs and minty shadings. Medium-bodied and savory, it showcases a gentle tannic structure and good flavor concentration, all balanced by refreshing acidity. This is a 2020 red of real class and substance.” (Sept. 2024). Certified Biodynamic.
