The 2019 Brunello Di Montalcino Vigna Piaggia is quite appealing. Pouring a rich ruby hue, it opens to aromas of black cherry liqueur, candied flowers, licorice, and pine. Full-bodied, well-balanced, and approachable, with supple tannins, it retains very nice freshness, with a ripe sensibility. This is a very charming wine to enjoy now or over the coming 5-6 years.

The 2019 Brunello di Montalcino Vigna Piaggia opens with a wild bouquet of crushed violets, lavender, orange sorbet and confectionary spice. This is juicy and round in feel with floral-laced wild berry fruits and zesty acidity that keeps the energy high. It leaves a bitter twang of spice and orange while tapering off gently tannic and with a black-tea-like bitterness. While nicely balanced and very interesting, I'd be hard-pressed to call this out as a Brunello in a blind tasting.
