Jessiaume Beaune 1er Cru, Les Cent Vignes 2022
The Jessiaume Beaune 1er Cru Les Cents Vignes 2021 is from the Beaune 1er Cru appellation in Burgundy’s Côte de Beaune, produced by Domaine Jessiaume, a respected winery founded in 1850 in Santenay. This wine is made from 100% Pinot Noir grapes sourced from the Les Cents Vignes climat, a 23.5-hectare Premier Cru vineyard at the northern edge of Beaune, known for its clay-limestone soils and southeast exposure, which balances sunlight and prevents overripening.
Neal Martin of Antonio Galloni's Vinous rated this wine 91-93 points. “The 2021 Beaune Les Cents Vignes 1er Cru comes from a hectare parcel (1.16ha), around 60-year-old vines. This has quite a complex bouquet, fine mineralité and tension with dark cherry fruit mixed cranberry and brown spices. The palate is medium-bodied with well integrated oak, very elegant in style. This gently fans out with a sustained, sour cherry and crushed strawberry finish. A tender and quite delicious Beaune.” (Nov. 2022). Organic.

The 2022 Beaune Les Cents Vignes 1er Cru has a well-defined bouquet with brambly red fruit and sous-bois scents, quite detailed and elegant in style. The 30% new oak is nicely integrated. The palate is medium-bodied with sappy black fruit and a touch of black pepper that deceives you into thinking there is a touch of whole bunches. Fine length, this is a Beaune with personality.
